This is the original / physical release of The Darkest Benthic Division, found on the prodigious Werkstatt Recordings label. It is now available on Dan Terminus's personal artist page. DBD has a framing story but this album is more about the world that the characters live in, exchanging oceanscapes and cityscapes for soundscapes on a cinematic journey through a bleak world. My favorite is "Underwater Cities" and its sense of wary hope. "Rust Titans" sounds like vast hulks looming in the depths. kmxexii

18/25 exclusives. "ZZ" is a great opener, outrun with guitar accents that gets things moving; the grave, guitar-driven "Calculated Justice" follows. The rest is generally mellow, excepting "Restless Destroyer". I like the sultry "Last Dream" and "Gluteus" is fun synth-pop. "Into the City" is nice, midtempo outrun. "Shinjuku" has an outstanding sound of urban relaxation. I also like the percussive sound of "Bone Sand". Plaisance's "Challenger II" is my fave, smooth outrun with plucky synth riffs. kmxexii
The Dragon Inn 3’s Yaz cover gives a good idea of what to expect here: bright, bubbly throwback synthpop with irresistible hooks. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 29, 2023

Call me stupid! I've already had this album for several years.. Pristine, glitzy and glossy synthesizers.. You feel the promise of big city nightclub nights..Classy and sophisticated, this is how synthesizers are supposed to sound. Not used as a gimmick like rap/hip-hop just to make money. This is purely love, music made from the heart. Synthwave forever!! Shane Dangers
